Our Story · Becca & Katelyn

A 4-year detour into making the brush we wanted to leave on our vanities.

Poudreux is the result of one stubborn idea, two friends, a handful of near-disasters, and a refusal to launch anything we wouldn't keep on our own counters.

2022 · The idea

Becca started prototyping at night.

In 2022, Becca took the risk and started designing a luxury dry brush — all while running her marketing agency by day and prototyping by night. The goal was simple: the dry brush you'll actually use is the one you can leave out on your counter. Pretty enough for the vanity, refillable enough to last.

2023 · The first wall

Our first product designer ghosted me.

Becca found a product designer who was based in the Netherlands to help bring the idea to life. After a few iterations of the design, she ghosted her mid-project. She almost shut the whole thing down. Becca was losing steam and she didn't even have product in-hand yet.

Summer 2024 · The reset

Post-wedding blues, full burnout, and a friend who said yes.

Summer of 2024 hit Becca with post-wedding blues and full burnout, and she was losing motivation and momentum to get this dry brush off the ground. She went out to lunch one day with her friend Katelyn, who left the meeting unexpectedly as her Co-Founder and Ops partner. We had a great design back on the table and a manufacturer within months.

And then, we scrapped it. We wanted the final brush to do two things: sit on your vanity in a beautiful, refillable tray and swap out a fresh bristle head when the old one wore down. Back to square one — but in the right direction.

2025 · Pregnancy, tariffs, production

We green-lit the brush. Then everything changed.

In February of 2026, we finally green-lit production. And then the US slapped tariffs on Chinese goods the same week our PO went in. Costs spiked overnight. We renegotiated, ate margin, and shipped anyway because the calendar would not bend. Oh, and Becca just got back from maternity leave.

Our first order of completely custom-designed brushes arrived in May. They were perfect.

Spring 2026 · The boxes arrive

Big mistake. Small fix. Stunning result.

The bristle refill boxes arrived next, before the insert designer had finalized the sleeve. Big mistake. The boxes were stunning, but the insert they'd spec'd was a hair too thick to slide into the printed die-cut window. There wasn't time to reprint the inserts.

So we redesigned the insert blind, slimmed it down, and prayed it would work. The sleeve fit. The brush sat in the tray like it belonged there. Seeing the whole brush and tray styled on set was a "holy-sh*t" moment for us!!

Thank you for trusting a small thing made very carefully & deliberatly!
